Captions, Subtitles, and Transcripts Are Not the Same Thing
A transcript is the plain spoken text with no timing attached. Subtitles are that same text cut into short cues, each with a start and end time, which is exactly what an SRT file stores. On TikTok the word “captions” gets used for both the subtitle track shown over the video and the caption box written underneath it. This tool reads the subtitle track TikTok already has for the video, so what comes back is real timed text. From there you can copy it as a flat transcript or save it as SRT, depending on what happens next.
